What is Face Lift Surgery?
Age, lifestyle, poor nutrition, air pollution, inadequate skincare, gravity, and facial expressions contribute to the sagging of eyebrows and eyelids, the formation of under-eye pouches and wrinkles, deep lines around the mouth and nose, sagging cheeks, visible jowls, and overall facial structure deterioration.
In “facelift” procedures, which fall under the category of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgical Surgeries, the excess drooping skin is eliminated by making incisions along the natural crease lines of the ears and cheeks or behind the ears and in the sideburn area if necessary. This allows the face to assume its new shape. The incisions are carefully stitched using specialized techniques, resulting in minimal scarring.
If you are unhappy with the noticeable signs of aging on your face, such as wrinkles and a mature appearance that surpasses your actual age, you may want to consider exploring the possibility of undergoing a facelift.
It is advisable to communicate all your expectations and concerns to your doctor. During the examination, it is important to provide detailed answers to any questions regarding your overall health condition and inform your doctor about any past illnesses and medications you are currently taking.
The surgery that will be performed in our hospital requires general anesthesia, as is common practice. The approximate duration of the surgery is 3-5 hours, and it may be necessary for you to stay overnight at the hospital.
Before your facelift surgery, you will undergo an examination and consultation with an anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist will provide you with detailed information and instructions. It is important to discontinue the use of blood thinning medications, vitamins, and substances that can affect anesthesia, such as alcohol and smoking, as advised by your doctor, starting from the specified date.
During the early stages of recovery after the surgery, you may experience mild pain, but this can be easily managed with the prescribed painkillers. It is common to experience general swelling, bruising (purple spots), numbness, and tightness in the face. These symptoms typically resolve spontaneously within 7-10 days. A head bandage may be applied after the surgery, which can usually be removed within 2-3 days.
